Spotify Connect Design

For a few weeks I helped Spotify with their remote speaker functionality, dubbed ‘Connect'. I was responsible for moving the existing product design and ideas forward and worked on interaction and UI design. The work resulted in an internal concept video showcasing the ideas.

This conceptual logo for Connect borrowed a few traits from the Spotify logo itself, and it would rotate and draw a circle around itself if another set of speakers became available for connection. Once connected it would get a filled appearance. Any slight latency could be shown by animating the speaker sound waves. Spotify opted for a less branded Connect icon in the end, and I’m happy to have helped them move the project forward.
