Castello Logo

This is the logo I designed for my friend @castello, who is a MD/PhD student focusing on Alzheimer's research. I wanted to capture everything that is science in a modern way that spoke to who he is and the research he does. We both initiated this project because we agreed that science design didn't need to suck so hard, and this is my way of trying to make science design awesome.

The hexagonal form in the middle is a combination of his initials MAC that combine and resemble cell division - one of the very first things we study in science class. This also takes a hexagonal form, which is a common shape found in science materials. I developed an icon pattern to use on his materials, which is subtly implemented in the background (I'll post more on that in another shot.) We went with the hues of blue and magenta as a subtle extrapolation of the Alzheimer's color, a beautiful purple.
