P.A.V.E. Logo

This was a pro-bono project for a friend of mine. He started an after school program called P.A.V.E. (Providing Academic Vision and Enrichment) with the purpose of guiding impoverished students from Newark toward higher education. For the logo, I wanted to establish a visual metaphor for the program (the bumpy road through the mountains) that would communicate its purpose and appeal to children. Well received by both boys and girls, the color scheme communicates a sense of adventure rather than intimidation. The trapezoidal shape containing the type is meant to be reminiscent of road signs, and the hexagon containing the entire composition could easily be worn as a patch by involved students.
