Tampa just installed about 60 cameras downtown for the upcoming Republican National Convention next week.

Is this a proud demonstration of freedom and democracy in action? Are there better ways to "engage the public" and create civic discourse than recording their actions in public space and saving them in a data warehouse for 20 years?
